Xavier Cruises Against LSGH in Fr. Martin Tilt

Xavier School, using their run-and-gun offense, cruised past La Salle Greenhills, 88-56, in the first game of the Fr. Martin tournament last Sunday, July 24, 2011.

Xavier opened the game capitalizing on their height advantage and imposing their will down low. And as the game progressed, Xavier also used its daunting full court man-to-man press to score numerous fastbreak layups. Xavier played with no let up his Coach Jonathan “Budds” Reyes told his players to continue to pressure their opponents and execute on offense.

Youth Olympic Games veteran, Jeron Teng, finishing with a game-high 19 points followed by Gian Go and Jarrell Lim with 10 points each.

La Salle was never in contention throughout the game and Coach Budds shuffled his players for them to have more exposure. His players rewarded the gesture as they all scored at least 2 points each.

The team is primarily composed of seniors and juniors with the inclusion of 3 sophomores namely RP Youth U-16 mainstay Isaac Go, Alaska Jr. NBA Ambassador Jarrell Lim, and Isko Sy. The tournament will also serve as their exposure tournament as they prepare to defend their Tiong Lian championship later this year.

The Scores:

Xavier – 88: Teng 19, G. Go 10, Lim 10, I. Go 9, Yao 9, Ayuste 8, Sy 7, Cabero 6, So 4, Susmerano 2, Dy 2, Yap 2.
